The sun is shining, the little ones are out of school, and summer is officially here in Milwaukee. Unlike the past few summer seasons, a plethora of our favorite events are back in the city and we are buzzing with excitement. We love our cozy city at its busiest with friends & families gathering to socialize, dine, and take in the gorgeous views of Lake Michigan. To help you get the most out of the warmer months, we compiled a list of our must-attend events perfect for the whole family or as a solo adventure. Cheers to a fantastic summer in Milwaukee!

MILWAUKEE NIGHT MARKET

Produced by Westown Association, the Milwaukee Night Market is back after its two-year pandemic hiatus. The Night Market is a free public outdoor event that features a large variety of local vendors, musicians, artists and performers. It transforms downtown into an energetic fusion of the city’s best attractions.

  • June 15, July 13, August 17, and September 21
  • Family-friendly & dog-friendly
  • W. Wisconsin Ave.
SUMMERFEST

Of course, what is summer in the city without Summerfest? What began as a small celebration to highlight the MKE community has grown in the World’s Largest Music Festival attracting tens of thousands of music fans to the Lakefront each year. With major performances by Justin Bieber, Lil Wayne, Halsey, Backstreet Boys and many more — you won’t want to miss all the fun in store!

JAZZ IN THE PARK

Jazz In The Park is a perfect weeknight family outing. Bursting with live music, food, drinks (including Happy Hour from 5pm-6pm!), attendees can spread out their picnic blankets and relax on the grass at the beautiful Cathedral Square Park. If you love local music in a bustling outdoor space, this event is an absolute must.

Cedarburg Strawberry Festival

If you’re looking for a day outside of the city, Cedarburg Strawberry Festival is returning after two years and is just a 30-minute drive outside of downtown Milwaukee. Make sure you come hungry because this event is full of strawberry samples —  from strawberry wine to strawberry shortcake and everything in between. Cedarburg fills its town with live music stages, children’s activities, demonstrations, contests, and more.

Wisconsin State Fair

Calling all foodies! Although they may be known for their delicious cream puffs, the Wisconsin State Fair is home to over 150 vendors offering over 800 food and beverage items. With an always-evolving menu of classic festival foods, foods on-a-stick, interesting combos, and international faves, it’s no wonder that dining is one of the top reasons thousands visit every year. But, we can’t forget about the racing pigs, riding down giant slides, and all the great live music!

Wheel Fun Rentals

Renting bicycles and paddle-boats with Wheel Fun Rentals is a fantastic way to explore Milwaukee while having fun with friends and family. They also provide 4-wheeled specialty cycles and the adorable swan-shaped boats you pass by on Lincoln Memorial Drive. This group empowers the community to explore the outdoors and supports active, healthy, and (most importantly) fun lifestyles! Grab your sunscreen — rentals are available daily until sundown.

Bradford Beach

What would summer be without time at the beach? Visit Bradford Beach for an exciting, playful time. The beach is at its busiest between June and August when Lake Michigan is at its hottest. Join a beach volleyball league, or hang out at The Dock (the beach’s tiki bar) with a fun cocktail, or cool down with a custard sundae from MooSa’s.

Farmers Markets

Ahhhh, there’s nothing as sweet as fresh fruits and veggies in the summer months. Milwaukee is jamming with amazing farmers markets this summer that feature a variety of local goods and produce. Step outside and breathe in warm morning air by visiting a farmers market near you.

No matter what activities you choose to enjoy this summer, be sure to protect your skin with a great SPF. With our Ultra UV Protective Daily Mineral Defense SPF 50+ in your beach bag or purse, you’ll be able to enjoy the long summer days for even longer without the risk of a painful sunburn.
