Did you know that stress can negatively affect our breathing? Experiencing times of stress can actually constrict breathing, causing more shallow inhales using the chest instead of your entire abdomen. When you focus on diaphragmatic breathing (breathing through the entire diaphragm), your body naturally relaxes, lowering the harmful effects of stress hormones. Mindful breathing also lowers heart rate, blood pressure, improves muscle core sustainability, and relaxes tense muscles.
